Getting a new plumbing installation can involve a series of glitches that are easily overcome with the help of a good plumber. A consultation prior to any work undertaken is a worthwhile endeavour.

Let’s hope the plumbing installation work goes forward in a straightforward and timely, affordable manner. It does not always happen that way. It’s not in the project or the plumber or the timing. It’s in the nature of plumbing and plumbing installations.

When you think of plumbing installations, major remodelling or new construction comes to mind, but much smaller projects fit the bill also. A basic definition of a plumbing installation is any time replacing a plumbing part or fixture requires removing the unit, turning off the water and making modifications to the existing house plumbing. This could be to upgrade a faucet, change a P-Trap or drain line, add a dishwasher or additional spigot for a washer or for garden use.

Several times I have started the project, gotten it to a certain stage, let my plumber friend do the specialty finesse work and then I finished up. I don’t have to do it all.
